Common Symptoms of a Bad BMW Z3 ECU:
When you choose the repair service you send your unit to our location. Once we receive the unit, we test and diagnose the unit. Then we repair it, if it is needed, and we send it back to you with a report of what caused the unit to go bad.
When sending your unit for Repair, send us the ECU/ DME Set:

TURN AROUND TIME FOR THE REPAIR:
The average time for the repair process is 3- 5 days once we receive the ECU SET at our office.
First, we send you an rebuilt ECU from our stock. Once you receive our ECU, you send us back your damaged ECU core. For your convenience, we include a prepaid UPS Return Label in the box.
DME to EWS alignment/synchronization needs to be done on this ECU with the Exchange Service. This is a simple 5 minute process which "marries" the DME to your car.
Your local independent BMW mechanic or delaership can do this in 5 minutes using their BMW Scanners.
What's the "Core Charge"?
The core charge is a deposit that we collect to ensure that the exchange is completed. When we receive your ECU core at our office, we refund the core charge immediately back to your credit card.
Your old ECU must be returned within 5 days of the delivered date in order to receive the refund of the core deposit. You may be subject to additional charges, in addition to a canceled warranty, if you do not return your old ECU within 5 days of receiving your new rebuilt ECU.
ECUs returned in non-rebuildable condition, such as heavy water damaged, fire damaged or manipulated ECUs, may receive a partial refund, or no refund at all.
We can also have the EWS function deleted from this ECU.
This will help you start your car even when the Remote in the key get damaged.
The optional EWS removal service is free with the Repair or Exchange Service.
You will need to jump/bypass the EWS Module in the car in order to provide direct power from the ignition switch to the starter motor. The step-by-step instructions on how to this are in the Technical Data section of this ECU.

In the industry there are many BMW ECU programming. We wrote a guide to help answer and give you solutions to some of the most commonly asked questions.
We have reverse engineered these ECU's and developed proprietary Equipment that allows us to Re-program used ECU's to your car's VIN Number.
Because if you install a used ECU in any BMW, the VIN number and "Rolling Code" will not match, and it will prevent the car from starting.With a used ECU the car might crank, but it will never get the "permission" to power the fuel pump and send the spark signals.
BMW's have the EWS Module (anti theft device) that has a password feature called the "Rolling Code" which changes between the DME and EWS every time that the car is turned off. This makes it virtually impossible to swap used ECU's between BMW cars.
"NO". Our Exchange ECU's will be programmed to your BMW's VIN number and correct application. However, due to the fact that the EWS systems have a random "Rolling Code" we can't guess what this random code is. Therefore, we reset this feature to make the ECU "blank".
In order for the rebuilt ECU to work in the car, a ECU to EWS Alignment/Synchronization has to be carried out.This is done using a BMW scanner like a GT1, ISTA, Autologic, Launch X431,Baum Tool DS2021and others. It takes less than 5 minutes to "MARRY" the ECU to your car, and once that is done the ECU is ready to start in the car.
NO. ECU re-programming is not required because most repairs are done on the hardware parts and not on the software programming. Once we repair your unit, it will be 100% "Plug and Play" already tested in our actual Tester vehicle.
